New Grant to CARE4Endemics through CC & EasyJet Holidays Partnership
The Turquoise Coast Environment Fund (TCEF) is pleased to support the CARE4Endemics project in Antalya through the partnership between Conservation Collective and EasyJet Holidays.
Now in its second year across the Mediterranean, the Conservation Collective & EasyJet Holidays collaboration connects tourism with locally led biodiversity conservation in key holiday destinations. In Türkiye, this support is channeled through TCEF to protect some of Antalya’s rarest endemic plant species.
Protecting Four Critically Endangered Endemics in Antalya
Türkiye is a global biodiversity hotspot, home to more than 12,000 plant species — nearly 30% of which are endemic. With almost 44% of steppe habitats already lost, around 1,000 endemic plant species face increasing risk. Antalya is the country’s most plant-rich province, hosting 773 endemic species, many confined to the fragile ecosystems of Beydağları Coastal National Park.
CARE4Endemics is a year-long conservation initiative focused on protecting four critically endangered plant species found only within this national park. Through the partnership, Turquoise Coast Environment Fund is supporting this project, implemented by Antalya Orkidelerini ve Biyolojik Çeşitliliği Koruma Derneği (ANTOK).
The project combines field-based scientific research, habitat modelling, education, and public awareness activities to safeguard these globally significant species. By engaging local communities, park authorities, tourism stakeholders, and young people, the initiative strengthens long-term stewardship of Antalya’s unique natural heritage.
Through this partnership, easyJet holidays contribute to biodiversity conservation in destinations where it operates, supporting grassroots organizations that protect the natural heritage visitors come to experience.
Part of a Mediterranean-Wide Effort
Alongside Türkiye, EasyJet Holidays also supports marine and biodiversity initiatives in Greece and Cyprus, including seagrass meadow protection and invasive species awareness campaigns.
Together, these projects demonstrate how tourism and conservation can work in alignment — helping safeguard the ecosystems that define Mediterranean destinations for future generations.
