TCEF Annual Report

We’re pleased to share our 2024–2025 Annual Report, reflecting on a year of growth, learning, and collaboration along Türkiye’s coasts.

Over the past year, TCEF continued to strengthen its role in supporting locally led environmental action, working at the intersection of science, community knowledge, culture, and civil society. From our inaugural fundraising gala in Çeşme and international gatherings in London to our grantee partners project across the Aegean and Mediterranean, we’ve witnessed the emergence of a shared culture of coastal and marine stewardship.

Since 2022, TCEF has awarded €428,000 to 42 locally led projects spanning biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, sustainable food systems, environmental education, legal capacity building, and post-earthquake recovery. The report reveals how these diverse initiatives respond to shared ecological and social challenges with creativity and resilience.

Inside, you’ll discover detailed project spotlights, voices from our grantee partners, alongside insights from the Earthquake Region Fund, launched in response to the 6 February 2023 earthquakes to support ecosystem-based recovery in affected coastal regions.

These stories illuminate the transformative power of community-led action and the necessity of long-term, locally grounded solutions for protecting and regenerating Türkiye’s coastal and marine ecosystems.

We are deeply grateful to the local organisations implementing this work on the ground, to the members of our advisory board and steering committee who guide our approach, and to our donors and partners whose support makes this work possible.

Warm regards,

Özge Sönmez
